How does hair gel work?

 

In most gels, it is a plastic called PVP, which is a polymer sealer. The polymers in PVP are dissolved in water or alcohol and form a clear film between each strand of hair, binding them together. The experts call this “capillary force” because it works similarly to blood capillaries. When gel is applied to wet hair, the PVP or similar ingredients quickly absorb water. When the gel dries completely, it forms a strong bond between the hair strands.

 

The correct application of the hair gel

 

A pea-sized or walnut-sized amount is sufficient for short hairstyles. Even for longer hair, it is not a good idea to use twice the amount of gel. Too much gel will make the hair heavy and stick together. Then rub the gel into the palms of your hands. Run the palms of your hands and fingers through the sections of hair that need to be styled. Distribute the gel through the ends of the hair, avoiding the roots.

 

What is the difference between styling cream, wax and gel?

 

Styling cream provides flexible hold and, thanks to its creamy, thick consistency, also lets you work wonderfully with your hair until you have shaped it perfectly. 

In direct comparison to styling cream, hair wax scores with even more lightness and a matt finish. Depending on the thickness, it can also be used to control thick, unruly hair.

 

Hair gel is water-based and probably the best-known hairstyling product. It provides an extremely long-lasting hold to the hairstyle.

 

Can I get the hair gel out of my hair without washing it?

 

Many manufacturers claim that their products can be combed out without leaving any residue. However, washing your hair is much more effective because brushing it out can leave small white flakes on your clothes.
