Sweaters & cardigans
If there's one thing we really look forward to once the summer's over, it's cosy knitted sweaters and cardigans. Nothing against flowery summer dresses and shorts, but there's something to be said about being able to wrap yourself up snugly in soft knitwear. It's even nicer with the current on-trend items. We love their high-quality materials and gorgeous colours. That special something lies in the details: the fashion industry surprises us every time!
Gentle tones
The new knit colours look like dreamy cream cakes. The current trend is super-soft wool quality, in caramel and off-white. Have you ever felt alpaca wool? Then you'll know what we mean. Simply heavenly! Combine and colour-coordinate wide wool sweaters with a leather skirt, or wear them casually with denim and brown suede boots. The colours go perfectly with the must-have chocolates that we love to indulge in. Either way, this look whets your appetite for more.
Polo necks
When the wind is howling, a high collar to snuggle into is really worth its weight in gold. It's no wonder then that the polo neck sweater has once again become an on-trend item. This season, we like it wide with a thick polo neck. This not only accentuates the look — it also adds to the feel-good factor.
Cut outs
Let a sense of style shine through! Sweaters with cut-outs are currently getting all the attention. This type of polo neck can also have a deep scooped cut-out, or leave your shoulders bare. This puts a whole new twist on the off-the-shoulder trend. Such a sophisticated design works best when the colour scheme is fairly subtle. You could go for harmony, or combine and colour-coordinate the cut-out sweater with a plain skirt or wide-leg trousers.
Crop sweaters
What has proven successful with tops is now being done with sweaters and cardigans . Crop sweaters are insanely en vogue, especially combinations with oversized proportions. They make the crop sweater look positively epic. But a crop — won't that be cold? Not if you wear your crop sweater with high-waisted trousers or over a dress. The short length also helps achieve a flattering silhouette.
Rib knits
Fine rib knit is a true all-rounder. With jeans, it takes on an incredibly relaxed character. But it can also accompany you to the office as part of a chic look featuring a midi skirt and boots. How does it do it? The secret lies in its fabric: with its fine ribs, it flatters the figure like no other material. Plus, it's thin enough that you can comfortably wear a rib knit sweater beneath your blazer.
Wrap cardigans
If buttons are too straight-laced for you, reach for the wrap cardigan! Cardigans are no longer simply wrapped tightly around the body. They're taking it easy now. A coarse rib knit in oversized proportions looks brilliant with a dress, or with leather leggings. It's tied loosely at the side, giving your look a flattering asymmetry that's often quite eye-catching. With this wrapped-up look, you've got the right idea.
Bring on the new knitwear trends
It warms our fashion hearts to see so many beautiful sweaters and cardigans out there. Of course, there are so many other types of pullovers that are always popular. Who would want to go without a cosy hoodie on a cold day? Classics with a V-collar or crew neck also belong in every wardrobe. With these, you'll comfortably sit out stormy autumn days on the sofa, or think warm thoughts while strolling through town. At Afound, you'll find exciting brand deals on knitwear essentials and on-trend items.

FAQs
Can I put my wool sweaters in the washing machine?
Sweaters and cardigans made of real wool should be washed very gently. Wool shrinks very easily, but mixed fabrics can often be put in the washing machine. So the first thing to do is take a look at the laundry label. If you are able to wash the clothing item at 30° or 40°, it can be put in the washing machine with a gentle cycle. Use a wool detergent and only spin at low speeds.
How do you wash wool sweaters by hand?
If the manufacturer recommends hand washing, you can simply clean your sweater in the sink. Fill the sink with lukewarm water and add a very mild detergent. For a normal wash, it is enough to let the sweater soak for a few minutes, but not too long, as water makes the wool fibres swell. For stubborn stains, apply the detergent directly onto the stain and remove it by gently rubbing the area. Then rinse it out until the water's clear. Gently squeeze out the excess moisture and let the sweater dry.
How do I dry a wool sweater?
Sweaters made of new wool, cashmere, alpaca wool, mohair and similar delicate materials must not be put in the dryer. The heat causes them to shrink drastically, so a women's size can quickly become a child's sweater. Air-dry wool instead: you can hang the sweater over an airer. Under no circumstances should you dry wet wool sweaters or jackets on hangers. The water makes the fabric heavy, and it can stretch, and the corners of the hangers can make the fabric baggy at the shoulders.
