For suit trousers, suspenders with loops are ideal. They are buttoned to the waistband from the inside. This is gentle on fine fabrics. For suspenders with clamps, it is convenient to attach the rear clamps first. Then put on the trousers and pass the suspenders over your shoulder. Clip them about midway over the front pockets of your trousers. However, at the waistband and not at the belt loops. Suspenders should be even and smooth against the body, then the length is correct. 

Which belt goes with which trousers?

Basically, if you like it, it fits. It's also less about the trousers and more about the overall look. If you like it sporty, for example, fabric belts or leather belts in blue or black go well with jeans and chinos. Brown belts made of coarse or suede leather are nice with a lumberjack look.
