What is a cardigan?

A cardigan is a jacket made of a fine or chunky knitted fabric. The thickness of the material varies. How warm the cardigan keeps you depends on the wool blend. There are models with shawl collar and patch pockets.

2. If machine washing is an option, wash your cardigan on the wool cycle with a mild wool detergent. (Full detergents or mild detergents are not suitable for wool cardigans. They are alkaline and can cause holes in your cardigan at worst).

3. Avoid the use of fabric softener. It damages the fibres.

4. Make sure that the drum of your washing machine is no more than a quarter full.

5. Don't wring out your wet cardigan. Lay it on a towel and roll it up. Then press out the moisture with light pressure. Lay the cardigan on a dry towel and pull it into shape. Let it dry lying down.
