Lazy days by the pool, blazing sun at the beach, lovely restaurant visits and cultural experiences. Sometimes it’s a bit tricky to get together the perfect holiday style and packing. Especially if you’re only traveling with hand luggage. Fortunately, there are some tricks to pack smartly for the sun holiday. With a summer holiday packing list at your service you reduce the risk of arriving - without having anything to wear.

A general and good advice for packing is that you’ll most likely not change your style just because you’re on holiday. Meaning, don’t bring clothes that you never wear at home. It’s often believed that the lovely summer dress that has been hanging in the wardrobe for years will be your new favorite piece during the holidays. But honestly, how often does that happen? If you haven’t used a dress for years, you will most likely not use it now either

Another good tip when starting out with the summer holiday packing list is to think about what materials and fit feel comfortable to wear in the heat.

– I like to dress comfortably for everyday life, and that’s something I take with me for vacations as well. My holiday style is relaxed, casual and in natural materials that breathe. Cotton, silk and linen clothing are nice to wear in the heat. Silhouettes that are loose and breezy. I prefer to wear a dress or skirt and let the pants rest in the wardrobe until autumn.

– A classic mistake is to pack things in your suitcase that you never use at home. The chances of using those garments on holiday are usually minimal, so bet on some safe cards that you know you enjoy.

THINK: OUTFITS AND STATEMENT PIECES

– My best tip is to spend some extra time on your summer vacation packing list. It will save time dressing at the destination. Carefully plan your different outfits first and make sure the clothes you bring can be combined in more ways than one.

Be sure to always pack some statement jewelry. They take up very little space in your suitcase and can easily and quickly turn your day outfit into evening and dinner gear in just a few seconds.

LET AN EYE CATCHER DO THE WORK

– During summer I don’t want to spend time fixing my hair or makeup and then an eye-catcher, like a patterned maxi dress, is what does the job. It’s definitely the most important piece in my summer wardrobe. For the long dress, I prefer to wear a pair of flat sandals or slip-in shoes. Winter in Sweden requires some practical thinking around clothes so my best tip for the summer and holiday style is to dare to experiment and take out the turns a bit when it comes to designs and colors.

THE PERFECT BEACH BAG

– I have a big straw bag as a beach bag that I fill with pocket books (preferably sci-fi or biographies), sour citrus fruits, spf, swimsuit, bikini, sunglasses and a hat to give the face some extra protection from the sun.

TIPS FOR A SMART HOLIDAY PACKING LIST

In addition to a great holiday style, it’s also good to think through all the practical things you may need to bring with you on the trip. It's easy to forget which gadgets may actually be essentials, as they are at hand here at home when the need arises. In addition, some things are so obvious that we forget to pack them. Most of the time you can shop for necessities on site, but it’s not so fun to run around and look for painkillers or tampons the first thing you do, when all you want is to head to the beach.

SMART PACKING OF YOUR HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS

Even if you’ve made a thorough and well-thought-out packing list before the sun holiday, you should also get the things together. So pack everything in your suitcase and in your hand luggage. To make it a little easier, we've put together a list of tips on how to pack in the simplest way:

  • Get rid of crumpled clothes on the trip and save space in your bag by rolling the clothes together instead of folding them.
  • Pack the heaviest things at the bottom by the wheels and the lightest at the top
  • Pack shoes along the sides of the bag and fill them with socks, underwear, cords and other small things.
  • Afraid of your creams and tubes leaking? Tape or place happy pack under the lid on the products.
  • Sensitive garments are protected if packed in cloth bags or pillowcases. It can also be used as dirt bags.
  • Are you going to visit holy places? Bring comfortable clothes that fit in the heat while covering shoulders and knees.
  • Always bring a pair of extra shoes – even the most comfortable shoes can hurt  after long walks in the heat.
  • Pack more socks and underwear than you expect to use. They take a little space but can come in handy as you often shower more on the sun holiday.
